In a few weeks, I will be talking to Dr. Katherine Mason’s preservice teachers at Kennesaw State University about Research Pathfinders 2.0. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to show these budding teachers what we as school library media specialists can and should do to support their teaching.  I thought it would be fun to create a “pathfinder” or information portal for these fledgling English teachers!

I plan to develop some additional “teacher” oriented pathfinders for each department to showcase resources they can use as teachers, but I also want these pathfinders to inspire them to consider how they could use personal information portals with their students.  One of my goals for 2009 is to promote the learning theory of connectivism by scaffolding teacher and students’ efforts in cultivating information portals and their unique personal learning networks.    By providing plenty of concrete examples and getting everyone excited about the possibilities of information portals, I hope to encourage inquiry and make information literacy more personal to each student (teen or adult!).

If you decide to create your own Pageflakes  or Netvibes pagecasts, please let me know as I am going to start collecting examples in my new wiki at .  I also welcome your ideas for using iGoogle!

If you would like to join and contribute, just submit a request, and you can help build this library of examples and ideas!
