I’d like to thank the wonderful organizers and participants in last week’s Emporia State University SLIM Summer Institute for School Librarians in Emporia, Kansas for an energizing day of learning and sharing! It was an honor to present a daylong workshop to tie into the summer institute’s theme, “New Tools for New Generations: Viable Tools for Effective Student Learning.”
The four major workshop strands included:
- Part 1: Tools for Participatory Learning (ties into AASL Standards for 21st Century Learners and the Standards in Action book)
- Part 2: Tools for Content Creation and Networked Learning (ties into AASL Standards for 21st Century Learners and the Standards in Action )
- Part 3: Tools for Transliteracy (this portion addresses multiple literacies and how libraries support that; also ties into AASL Standards for 21st Century Learners and the Standards in Action )
- Part 4: Tools for Transparency, Advocacy, and Instructional Leadership
